Dubai Weather in September 2023: What to Expect & What to Know

Planning a trip to Dubai in September and curious about the weather? Look no further! This post provides comprehensive information about the weather in Dubai during this month, including the average air temperature and sea temperature. Additionally, you’ll discover practical tips on what to pack and exciting activities to enjoy during your visit.

In September, Dubai typically experiences warm and slightly muggy weather. Although the average temperatures are not as high as in August, they are still quite warm. However, the temperatures are pleasant enough to enjoy various desert activities such as balloon flights and Dubai Desert Safaris, as well as the many water parks, beautiful attractions of the city, exclusive restaurants, and clubs without the crowds of other months. Moreover, you can relax on the marvelous golden beaches overlooking the Arabian Gulf. There’s no shortage of activities, places to explore, and day trips to enjoy during your stay.

Another advantage of visiting Dubai in September is that it falls towards the end of the low season, so hotel rates will still be relatively inexpensive. You’ll have the opportunity to book a fabulous hotel overlooking the Burj Khalifa or a wonderful villa with a pool in Dubai at very affordable prices.

    Dubai Weather in September

In September the weather in Dubai is still quite muggy and the average temperatures are still quite high, albeit not like in August.

If you travel to Dubai in September expect long and sunny days, as it is still in the height of summer and the chance of rain is practically zero.

While the daytime temperatures could well exceed 40 °C, in the evening it tends to get cooler, and even drop below 30 °C, making it especially pleasant to walk around and enjoy Dubai at night.

After sunset, when the temperatures are more pleasant, it is worth taking a trip to the liveliest areas of the city, such as Dubai Marina or the area around the Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa.

During the day remember to stay hydrated and protect your skin from strong sun rays, using a good sunscreen, a hat and your favorite sunglasses! At this time of the year it’s pretty easy to get heat stroke! By the way, remember to pack good travel insurance.

Dubai’s average UV index in September is 11+, which means it is very high (it is classified as “Extreme” on the UV Index scale) and it is recommended to protect the skin and eyes from direct sun exposure.

In September in Dubai the sun rises around 6.05 AM and sets around 6.25 PM.

    Dubai Temperature in September

    Dubai’s average temperature in September is 33 °C (92 °F) and typically fluctuates between a minimum temperature of 28 °C (82 °F) and a maximum temperature of 39 °C (102 °F).

In some cases the temperature in September in Dubai can rise up to 45 °C and due to the humidity of the air you may feel an even higher temperature.

The temperature in Dubai is quite similar to that of the other UAE emirates (such as Abu Dhabi or Sharjah) and is not too different from what you can expect in the desert.

In the Dubai Desert the temperature can easily reach 44 – 45 °C during peak hours, so it is best to go in the morning (for example you could try the incredible experience of the hot air balloon flight over the desert, held at dawn) or in the afternoon and then stay overnight in a desert camp.

    Dubai Sea Temperature in September

    Dubai’s average sea water temperature in September is 32 °C (89.5 °F).

The sea water temperature in September is still quite warm, which makes a nice splash in the ocean quite pleasant. Even better is to go to the cooler and particularly scenic areas of the Musandam Peninsula and the Fujairah coast, easily reachable with a day trip from Dubai.

What to pack for a trip to Dubai in September?

In September in Dubai, the weather is still typically summery, so you should bring your favorite summer clothes with you, preferably made from natural and fresh fibers, such as linen or cotton.

A few long-sleeved dresses may come in handy to protect you from the scorching sun (e.g. on a desert safari).

My advice is to pack something more elegant as well, as it may come in handy to fully enjoy the vibrant Dubai lifestyle, with its exclusive clubs and restaurants, such as those of the Burj Al Arab.

Oh, don’t forget your swimsuit! If this is your first time coming to Dubai, you may find it useful to read this guide to the Dubai Dress Code.

What are the best activities to do in September in Dubai?

During the day, especially if you are traveling with children, you could stay cool in one of Dubai’s magnificent water parks, such as the Atlantis Aquaventure, the Wild Wadi Waterpark or the Yas Waterworld in Abu Dhabi.

September is one of the best months to enjoy Dubai’s amazing indoor attractions, such as the Sky Dubai, the Burj Khalifa, the Dubai Frame and the wide choice of activities and theme parks in the Dubai Mall.

At Ski Dubai you can also live the unforgettable experience of hugging a penguin!

One of the most beautiful activities to do in September is a day trip to the Musandam Peninsula in Oman, a particularly scenic area that you can explore aboard one of the traditional wooden boats. Here you can also swim with dolphins and sea turtles.

Obviously, a day trip to Abu Dhabi and other beautiful cities in the emirates is a must from Dubai. The cheapest and easiest way to go is to rent a car, in this article you can find some useful information about car rentals in Dubai and possible destinations to explore.
